Pathfinder Adventure Path #29: Mother of Flies (part 2)

I promised you these yesterday but I was bitten by a zombie on Tuesday and didn't get out of bed yesterday. I am still in bed at the moment but the pain has subsided a little bit and my head is slightly clearer. As they say, better late then never...

Today, I have for you the second and final installment of work that I produced for Pathfinder Adventure Path #29: Mother of Flies. Here are an assassin, a hag and my favorite kind of halfling, one covered in a swarm of shadow rats...

I actually my hands on a copy of this module earlier in the week at my local gaming store. I am really impressed with the production quality of all of Paizo's products. I thought my pieces also reproduced very well. As a extra bonus, Dog's Tongue, the red cap from Monday's post made it onto the back cover! I thought that was pretty cool indeed :)

Don't think I will have any more posts for you this week with how I feel. At this rate I don't see myself out of bed until Saturday. Hopefully I will back in the swing of things on Monday. Until then...

Tijuana Flats Ceiling Tiles

Back in July I took part in a ceiling tile painting contest for a newly opened Tijuana Flats Tex-Mex restaurant. They announced that they are doing a new painting contest and I jumped at the chance to have some more fun with real paint. You are limited to two tiles in the contest so I figured why not take both and do something big and fun. This is what I came up with...

If you are saying to yourself this is all just an excuse for me to paint Godzilla for once... well, you might be onto something. I meant to have this done a lot sooner but being sick last week really put a dent in my production schedule. The contest does not end until the middle of next month so it will be awhile before I know if I won any tacos. I must be patient! Here are some additional images of the tiles...

After an hour or two of sketching out the drawing and laying down some base colors. What you can't see in this image is the hair dryer, because acrylic just does not dry fast enough.

After a couple more hours. Almost done now. At this point it really began to move quickly.

That is all for this week. I will be back next week with some new work that I think is safe to show off! Until then...

Happy BLOG-a-versary!

On this very day, one year ago, I started this blog! So after 174 posts, happy one year anniversary to me :)

Many many thanks to all of you who follow my blog, leave comments, link to me or otherwise frequent these posts. Without you guys I would have no reason to keep posting!

I will be the first to say I am shocked that I made it this far with this blog and that I have so many followers. I knew what I wanted to do with it, I just didn't know if I could keep it going or create any interest with it. So despite my best efforts here we are one year later!

To mark this occasion I will hearken back to the humble beginnings of this blog and post a panda drawing I recently did for my wife. She gets a lot of these from me and she chose this one to be shared with you today. So enjoy!

I will see you back here on Friday for something fun that I finished up last night! Until then...

Warforged Armor Designs #4

I am emerging from the fog of illness finally. In celebration of my immune system I bring you the fourth installment of my Warforged armor designed for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. As with the plate armor I designed Paragon and Epic versions of the scale armor. This also included designing some new hands and feet for these sets.

This leaves only one more set of Warforged attire to share with you. Make sure you are here next week for the Warfirged wizard set. I can't believe I am so close to the end off all that armor I designed. How time flies.

Make sure you back here on Wednesday, it is a very special day! Until then...

Orc Raider - Dungeons and Dragons

I am still under the weather and not up to much more then getting a blog post up.

Today I bring you what could quite possibly be my most maligned work to date. The Orc Raider from the Dungeons of Dread Dungeons and Dragons Miniature expansion was racked over the coals by pretty much everybody. This also was the point at which I stopped going to forums where products I worked on were discussed. Now granted, all of the criticism I read and heard was based on the final miniature but I still can't help but feel responsible for my part. I will let you decide for yourself if this is the worst work I have ever done or if the internet is showing me a skewed interpretation of reality.

The different stages of the Orc Raider's front view as I tweaked and edited it. I had to get in the mind set of the D&D Orc. Figure out what makes him tick.

With the front finally approved I set about with the rest of the turnaround.

You can see how the Orc Raider turned out in it's final production miniature form, HERE. That's all for this week. Hopefully I will be back on my feet next week. Until then...

Warforged Armor Designs #3

I am under the weather today but I have managed to crawl myself to the computer for today's post... albeit very late.

Today brings the third installment of Warforged Armor designed for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. For the Warforged armor sets I was asked to do two versions of both the plate and scale armors. One would need to be designed for a level 11 Paragon Tier look and feel while the second would be designed for level 21 Epic Tier. Since the plate sets lent themselves to it I designed new hands and feet that messed with the rest of the armor.

Of all the Warforged armor I think I like the plates sets the best. I was really happy with the shapes and forms I was able to come up with, especially on the Epic Tier set.

As a side note, I discovered yesterday that the good folks over at Monster Brains featured some of my work on their blog. Many thanks to them for that! If you have a moment, be sure to head over and have a look around their blog, loads of neat stuff.

I think that is all I have in me today. Back to bed for me. I hopefully will be back up and running on Friday for another post. Until then...

Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Horrors Revisited

Today, I bring you my first work produced for Paizo and their Pathfinder products. These are from the Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Horrors Revisited book and are for a section on, you guessed it, WEREWOLVES! Without further interruption, werewolves...

Dragon Rage Barbarian - Revisited

A few weeks ago the good folks at Ninja Mountain were kind enough to use one of my pieces on their critique podcast. I took their advice as well as some other feedback I had received on this piece and went back and gave it some more attention. I really liked this piece and I felt I could really take it to the next level with some more love. A little thought and elbow grease later and I present to you my updated Dragon Rage Barbarian...

You can review my original version of this piece HERE. Now all I have to do it make sure I can so this on the first pass before I turn it into the client and not three months after the art is used. This yet again shows the invaluable help of having others look at your work and trusting their advice and experience.

Next week I have have some new work to share with you. I think the product is actually out now, at least that is the impression I am getting from the interwebs. Until then...

Warforged Armor Designs #2

For your viewing pleasure I present the second installment of Warforged armor that I designed for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. As previously mentioned these suits of armor would be attached to the surface of a Warforged's body rather then worn. Today's selection include the hide and leather armor sets. For several of the armor set, especially the heavy armor, I was asked to design custom hands and feet that matched the armor and would be included as part of the set. You can see some of these custom hands in the leather set.

I think that is all for today. I try to come up with some relevant or profound to say about my work and sometimes can't come up with anything more then, "I liked how these turned out, they were fun to work on". Oh well. See you back here on Friday when I will have something a bit more bright and shiny. Until then...

Charity weekend wrap up - THANKS EVERYBODY!

A super big thanks to everyone out there that helped out with and contributed to the various Spread the Love events this past weekend. Many more thanks to everyone who called in or stopped by in person to bid in the silent auction on Saturday. Saturday was amazingly awesome and from what I hear, very successful. The art auction alone raised over $1400!

More thanks goes out to all that bid on my ebay auction that concluded yesterday. My Dreamblade drawings are going to a very good home. I hope he won't mind me mentioning it, by our very own custom miniature guru David Thies was the winning bidder! You might recall my posts about David's excellent work, if not, you can check it out HERE, HERE, and HERE. Many thanks David!

Somehow with all these events going on I still was able to finish a drawing that I have been working on for myself. Hopefully this little guy will be back soon in a more colorful state. For now, here he is in all his black and white glory...

It has tentacles, so you know it is going be good!
